    1. I was delighted with this well-written and evocative novel. Caly's character as a rebellious teen is spot-on, and characterization is excellent across the board (except, perhaps, for Tara). The story of young love rediscovered is superbly done, and, most unusually, it doesn't usurp the entire plot. The different strands of the story are nicely woven and occupy their representative portion of the text. The mood of the novel is nostalgic, and the situations, scents, sights and sounds were redolent [...]

    2. I haven't read a book yet that has made me nostalgic for my childhood until I read Caly's Piece. Playing flashlight tag, eating creamsicles on the beach, first kisses and young love. This book made me want to find a Delorean and go back to the Summer of '89 and relive all those magic moments. I really, really enjoyed this book you guys!It opens up with 17 yr old Caly Monroe running from the cops after tagging a 50 foot portrait of her mother on the side of her bakery. What she ends up putting on [...]

    3. [image error]**Review copy given to Book Bitches Blog for an honest review ** **Spoiler Free Review**Caly’s Piece by J.M. MillerI think that no matter how old you are, everyone at one point or another needs to delve into a YA novel or two. In my opinion, YA authors write some of the most touching, beautiful novels out there. And while YA isn’t my favorite genre in the book world, I do enjoy reading it every now and then…and Caly’s Piece is a perfect example of why I will always give a YA [...]

    4. I read this as a first YA book on my shelf. I was never much interested in Harry Potter or other YA novels, so I gave it a try, because as an author I want to know what falls within this category. It was a pretty fast read and indeed concerning a young woman that is on the verge of becoming an adult. She falls in love for the first time. The back drop of a beach and Caly having been assigned community work for an artistic demeanor (tagging) makes this an interesting book to me. The physical hard [...]

    5. This was such a touching coming of age story. I loved so many things about the novel and the author is certainly one to watch. As we’re introduced to Caly, we can tell she has an intense and complicated relationship with her mother. As a rebellious act, Caly spray paints the side of her mom’s bakery. To punish Caly, her mom sends her to live with her grandfather in a rundown beach town. The novel is definitely a character driven work. Caly is angsty as she tries to deal with her mom being a co [...]

    6. My reaction the entire day reading it: It is a 5, it is a 5, it is a rare 6 star, rare 6 star, wtf is that ending ?This my dear friends, is why the book is a 4 star. Everything but the ending had me reading the book in every spare second I could muster. It was one of those books that forced you to take slightly longer breaks at work just to keep reading. It was one of the best books I've ever read. Then came the ending. Say what? It just fell flat. I think it began when one party confessed and th [...]

    7. Let me start out by saying, this was my first YA (Young Adult) read. I had to totally switch gears in my mind of what to expect from this book, but not in a bad way. Caly's Piece started out pretty slow for me, it didn't really grab me off the bat. But, Caly, is a smart-mouthed 17 yr. old that has found an "out" in graffiti art, so she couldn't too bad. Her quirky personality really kept me interested. Her mother and her don't really have the greatest understanding, but the girl has talenteven i [...]

    8. This book started out pretty slow for me. Like painfully slow. Almost to the point that I was about to put it down and move on to my next read. But once Caly is sent to spend the summer with her grandfather in Gemstone Beach, a place she hasn't been back to in 5 years, the story picked up. I adored the idea of the story but somethings didn't sit well with me when I was finished. Ok, here is the deal. Caly can't forget Aden, the first guy she ever kissed. But she hasn't seen him in 5 years ever s [...]

    9. Before I start this review I have to thank J.M. Miller for giving me a chance to read this book and review it. If she hadn't sent it to me I really don't know if I would have read it. I really hope that I would have though because this book was so amazing and so much fun to read. Thank you Ms. Miller! The cover is so pretty! I love how it shows both aspects of the book, the graffiti side of it and the side that has the beach and all her problems there. It looks so real! The cover also gets a 5 ou [...]

    10. Caly's Piece was a good book, honestly. There were just a few things that made me give this book a three. First off, though, I usually have a lot to say about characters, but in this book all of them were okay, not great but not bad at all. OH, except for Alex, I really liked him. But other than that they were fine. The first half of this book was really just, boring for me. It didn't pick up at all. She was at a beach for punishment (which she brought up a lot, the punishment thing, which kind [...]

    11. Having spent some of my teenage years on the Chesapeake Bay, this book took me back to those days. I felt really invested in the characters and wanted more from them at the end. I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others.

    12. The BestI chose a 5 star because as a teen I felt from this book gave so much amazing things. I feel that even if there are bad times, I can make my own chooses to make it all better
